ALL ABOARD! A tall ship will be welcoming guests on board for lunch this month.

The Pelican tall ship is introducing the ‘Peli-canteen’, a cafe which will be open to the public at weekends throughout winter.

The Dorset charity Adventure Under Sail will be welcoming guests on board the Pelican on Saturday, November 8 from 10am – 3pm.

The Peli-canteen will offer a range of cakes, hearty soups, jacket potatoes, baguettes and hot drinks while the ship is moored at Weymouth Quay until the spring.

Money raised from the cafe will go towards maintenance and providing grants for youngsters doing sail training on the Class A vessel.

At an impressive 45 metres long, Pelican is easy to spot and guests will find plenty of parking nearby.

Marketing manager Kate Graeme-Cook said: “I don’t think that you can get a more novel setting for a cafe than a tall ship! “We look forward to welcoming people on board and we are also looking for volunteers to work in the cafe. It will be a lot of fun and will raise vital funds for the charity which benefits youngsters through all the skills they learn from sail training.”

Pelican has had a busy summer and is now taking a well earned rest whilst essential maintenance is done throughout the winter.

Diners can also enjoy a tour of the ship, including a cabin, and sign up for voyages and day sails for 2015. Next September, Pelican will be spending the winter island hopping in the Caribbean.
