TOASTING a decade in the business, Furleigh Estate has launched a wine club to celebrate its anniversary.

Known for its award-winning still and sparkling wines made with grapes from the region, the 85 acre area of vineyards, lakes and grazing land is located in Salway Ash, West Dorset.

Formerly a dairy farm, the grounds of Furleigh Estate feature 22,000 vines which grow on the south facing slopes of the Estate and a 5000 square foot winery which was built back in 2007.

A converted barn where the cows of the dairy farm were once milked, now serves as a tasting room for the company.

In recent years the company has won a number of awards for their produce and winemaker Ian Edwards won the Winemaker of the year 2012/13 award.

To celebrate the journey, the company have launched the exclusive club for English wine lovers who wish to become more involved with the vineyard and winery.

Members will be provided with the opportunity to buy newly released wines at a discounted price of 10 percent and can also expect to be invited to wine and food events being held at the vineyard which will allow them in-sight into the business of wine making in what the company call a ‘relaxed and friendly atmosphere’.

The membership will run from May 1 2015 until April 30 next year. The cost is £60 per person or couples can receive membership for £75.

Also included in the membership will be two bottles of still wine of the members choice, a complimentary tour of the vineyard and a private tasting of its wines for up to six people, the opportunity to visit the estate during the harvest months of October and November to see the winery in operation, as well as news and updates on the news and events that happen at Furleigh Estate.

Rebecca Hansford, owner of Furleigh Estate, said: “We planted our first vine in May 2005, so this spring will be the Estate’s 10th anniversary. Our internationally-renowned vineyard and winery is enjoying a golden age in English wine production, and the launch of our exclusive wine club is the perfect way to celebrate this.”

Although it is produced in Dorset, the wine is also available in duty free shops in major airports such as Gatwick and Heathrow as well as in big name stockists such as Selfridges.

The vineyard is open to visitors on Friday and Saturday from 11-4pm.
