A BRIDPORT business has been named Best Wedding Caterer at the South West region Wedding Industry Awards.

Sausage and Pear catering company, which is based in the town was hailed winner of the title at the recent awards ceremony at Maunsel House in Somerset.

The awards saw companies from across the South West battle it out for the top industry awards.

Businessess from as far afield as Glouscestershire and Cornwall were represented at the event, but it was couple Claire and Ross Moore from Sausage and Pear that took the regional title.

The business will now get to go to the National Wedding Industry Awards in January, where they have the chance to win Best wedding Caterer in the entire country.

Last year the team were highly commended and said they were delighted to return this year and win.

This year the team asked their brides and grooms to vote for them in the awards and said they were ‘overwhelmed’ to read the testimonials.

Mr Moore said: “It’s a massive region. We are very pleased to win the whole category. We are absolutely ecstatic.

“Two days later we also won the Dorset wedding supplier awards for best wedding caterer.”

He added: “It’s been a great few weeks for us. We have worked really hard over the last few year and we are finally getting recognized.

“It was great to hear the feedback from the brides and grooms.”

Mr Moore said the award win was a team effort and paid tribute to his staff.

He said: “We’d like to thank all our staff for their amazing hard work and commitment throughout the year. The award is for the whole team.

“We’d also like to thank our brides and grooms. We were welling up when we heard some of their lovely comments. Thank you for promoting us and saying those kind things about us.”

The team, who have been running the business for four years, will go to the national awards next month.
