THE Taste of the West has launched a brand new online shop with Ocado.
The awards, which showcase the best the South West has to offer in terms of food and drink, will be supplying
the online supermarket through its new commercial arm -Taste of the West International.
The store is the first regional shop of its kind, the result of the collaboration of food and drink producers across the West Country, orchestrated by Taste of the West.
John Sheaves, CEO of Taste of the West said: “I am delighted with this development.
"It has been a long time in the planning and effectively takes Taste of the West onto a new innovative marketing platform.
"The new Ocado account is the first account for our new commercial service, run from our commercial arm, Taste of the West International, and feeds directly into a buoyant online market."
Taste of the West is joining the likes of Food and Drink Wales and A Taste of Ireland with its own online shop, Taste of the West Country. More than 50 product lines are now available online, rising to 150 product lines in the coming weeks - from quality West Country meat, charcuterie, traditional pasties and craft ales to delicious ice-cream, free range duck and quail eggs and the region’s famous clotted cream.
All food and drink featured in the shop is produced in the area and this is the first time such a dedicated range is available to customers across the UK in one place.
Under this initiative, Taste of the West is responsible for product placement online, developing the supply chain into Ocado from the area as well as marketing, promotions and account management. The new online shop will allow producers who have until now been restricted to selling locally in speciality shops, delis and farmers markets, to reach customers across the UK.
