AN award-winning Indian restaurant in Weymouth has started it’s ever popular Thali Nights again.

The Balti House in town is hosting the traditional nights every Wednesday until March 29.

Thali is named after the dish in which it is traditionally served, usually on a metal platter with small, fitted bowls known as Katori.

It is a perfectly balanced meal and gives you the opportunity to taste many Indian dishes at the one sitting.

Thali is a selection of six different and unique dishes (meat or vegetarian option) served with rice and nan bread. No two weeks will be the same.

Owner of the restaurant, Shalim Abdul, said: "Thali is traditionally how many people in India eat at home. So I wanted to bring a bit authenticity of Indian dining to our restaurant.

"Thali’s will give an opportunity for anyone who always sticks to the same curries when they order to try something new and different in small portions.”

The family run Balti House Indian restaurant first opened its doors in Weymouth back in 1996 in the Clipper Cafe site on Commercial Road in Weymouth.

The father and son business grew from strength to strength in the 1990s and at the dawn of the new millennium in 2000 Shalim took over the business from his father.

Since then the Balti House has won countless local and national awards including the British Curry Awards a total of five times.

The Balti House has been a main stay of Indian cuisine in Weymouth for the last 30 years.
