TASTY food, quick service and a reasonable bill is what you can expect at Weymouth’s Marquis of Granby.

Situated at the far end of the Granby Industrial Estate, the eye-catching and unusual pub building and busy car park is enough to catch anyone’s eye.

So my dining companions and I pulled onto the car park and decided to see what it was like.

With three elderly relatives in tow, the pub’s easy access and location away from the hustle and bustle of the town seemed perfect.

The room was scattered with families and couples and although the interior is traditional, dark and very wooden, the pleasant atmosphere and good service made it friendly and homely.

We weren’t desperate for a window seat which offered views of a busy road so we focused our attention on a varied and appetising menu.

With a carvery on offer each Sunday, an ever-changing specials board and a wide choice for vegetarians we soon realised there was something for everyone.

Service was quick and courteous and our order was taken within five minutes of sitting down.

Two of our party chose salmon fillet, new potatoes and fresh vegetables, which tasted delicious and was cooked perfectly.

My other companions were equally happy with their meals although one could not quite believe the huge portion she received.

She had ordered the rack of ribs, which she said was tasty but so large that there was no room for dessert.

Meals varied around the £10 mark, which we were happy to pay due to the tasty meals and good portion sizes.

We were grateful to be leaving feeling nicely full after just one course because if we had decided to order any more we would have been left with a hefty bill.

Overall, we agreed that what it lacked decor and views it made up for in service and food quality.

If quick nice pub grub, with easy access and plenty of parking, is what you want then I would definitely recommend it.
