ELLIE Goulding topped almost every “Big in 2010” list and now we can judge if the hype was worthy.
Lights was billed as an electro-infused pop album that delivers punchy, original pop songs. That it does, and on the whole, they’re not half bad.
This Love (Will Be Your Downfall) is a standout track, along with Starry Eyed and Under The Sheets, the two singles released so far that have been all over our radios since the turn of the year.
The Writer is a nice-enough ballad but nothing to get too excited about.
The 23-year-old has a decent and fairly unique voice but it becomes really quite irritating towards the end of the album.
Ellie’s style is hard to pigeonhole – no bad thing – but folky electro is close enough.
