AMERICAN folk duo The Black Feathers are calling in at Broadmayne near Dorchester on Thursday, April 24, as part of their UK tour.

The pair have just released their EP Strangers We Meet and will be playing the Sunray Folk Club at Broadmayne Village Hall at 8pm.

Black Feathers are an award-winning, earthy blend of English folk and American roots, with tight-as-blood harmony flowing through its veins.

The twin voices and one guitar of Sian Chandler and Ray Hughes make music that is aware of the weight of history upon it.

Blending English pastoral sounds, passions of the Celtic fringe and the dark resonance of the American southeast, the result is never short of stunning.

The duo, who have played together for years, made the decision to break away from other projects enabling them to concentrate on writing and performing their own material.

They were formed as a result of a combination of English Folk influences, some Irish heritage and a large splash of Americana inspiration and rock sensibilities, all held together with close Bluegrass harmonies.Since their debut show in May 2012, The Black Feathers have been busy touring the country, enticing and captivating audiences as they go.

During the summer of 2013, they played over 18 festivals, including well-received slots at the Maverick Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival.

With an ever-growing online fan base developing in the US, they also fitted in an eight-date tour in and around Nashville, Tennessee.

The sound of Black Feathers has been described by the BBC as full of ‘beautiful harmonies, fine songwriting’ and by the Telegraph as laden with ‘nice touches and sweet harmonies’.
