ACCORDION and trumpet duo Brass Buttons are to perform at Weymouth Bay Methodist Church at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 7.

Brass Buttons formed in 2013 after musicians Louise Dukes and Jennie Jones met at their daughters’ playgroup.

Brass Buttons’ repertoire features a range of Latin, jazz, folk, film music and sea shanties that they have adapted to suit their instruments and tastes.

This forthcoming concert will be the duo’s biggest concert to date, with a selection of friends and guests also invited to perform on the evening.

The pair have previously performed at numerous community concerts and live mic evenings.

They were selected to play in the Dorset’s Got Talent show held at Weymouth College earlier this year.

They were also invited to perform in the Weymouth Music Festival concert in March this year.

Louise Dukes is a professionally trained musician. She attended the Chethams School of Music in Manchester from the age of 12, where she studied the piano and accordion.

After working in London as a musician for 12 years, she returned to her hometown of Weymouth in 2008.

Jennie Jones has played the trumpet since the age of 12.

A few years later she passed her Grade 8 exam and toured Italy with the Essex Youth Orchestra.

Other musical highlights include a tour of America in 2001 with indie band Sing Sing, and performing at weddings with a 1970s covers band.

After a prolonged maternity break, in 2013 she rekindled her love of music by singing/playing her guitar at a Weymouth talent contest, in which she came third.

She also writes her own songs and is a regular performer at local live mic nights.

Tickets are available on the door and cost £8 for adults. Admission is free for children.
