HENRIK Ibsens’s classic play Ghosts, starring Lesley Manville, is being shown at the Regent Theatre in Christchurch on Wednesday, July 9.

The delayed live satellite broadcast comes from the West End.

Ghosts was nominated for five Olivier Awards including Best Revival and was transferred to the West End’s Trafalgar Studios following a sell-out run at the Almeida Theatre.

Helene Alving (Lesley Manville) has spent her life suspended in an emotional void after the death of her cruel but outwardly charming husband.

She is determined to escape the ghosts of her past by telling her son, Oswald (Jack Lowden), the truth about his father.

However, on his return from his life as a painter in France, Oswald reveals how he has already inherited the legacy of Alving’s dissolute life.

Ghosts can be seen at the centre on July 9 at 7.30pm.
