GIG GUIDE: Air FM's Party in the Park in Weymouth

So if you’re feeling at a bit of a loose end after your church fete was cancelled because of a tombola virus outbreak, there are plenty of other things to do.

Top of the shop this week goes to the Air FM Party in the Park with an impressive line-up of talent, from round these parts and a bit further afield too. It’s in Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth on Sunday, August 17, and kicks off at 11am, with great music coming from such artists as Amy Mayes, Ian Sedwell, Nick Tatham, Victorian Barbers, Steve Wilson, Big Al Whittle, Leggomen, Lauren Bannon and many more familiar faces all the way through to 6pm.

And keep an ear out for folk/pop/funk duo of brothers Alex and Rolf Tinlin, who only last month played at the rather swish Hop Farm festival in Kent and were on the same bill as Squeeze, Caro Emerald and, stand up at the back there, the God-like genius that is Brian Wilson. Woop.

 

 

Admission to the park is free, there’s loads of stuff to keep the whole family entertained but please put your hand in pocket and donate to this fabulous community radio station.

And those lovely people at Air FM are also hosting a mahoosive live music bash on the beach for Weymouth Carnival, this Wednesday, August 20.

On stage at the Pavilion end of the beach will be Blue Rock, Lauren Bannon, Boytits, Cuba Libre, Gale Force 4, The Frontiers, Jukebox Junkies and many more, all rocking their socks off for the huge carnival crowds from 10am to 10pm.

Now then, those of us who enjoy a glass of ale or cider, in moderation naturally, will no doubt be heading towards Wyke Regis in Weymouth, known locally as the gateway to the south, for this weekend’s Ferryfest at the Ferrybridge pub.

As ever, there’s some top music with Replay there this evening, Friday, August 15, the ubiquitous Leggomen and Ed ‘Reg Dwight’ Hintze tomorrow, Saturday, August 16, and the pretty marvellous Shooter on Sunday.
