LYME Folk Weekend’s bumper Saturday night bill will flood the town with folk.

Headliners Lisa Knapp and Ducie will take to the stage at the Marine Theatre this Saturday night, with feel-good sounds from the Pilot Boat and a foot-stomping, full-on Ceilidh in the Langmoor Gardens Marquee. Lisa Knapp, who won this year’s Best Original Song at the Radio 2 Folk Awards, is a rare talent who combines significant song-writing craft with distinctive vocals.

Described as “fresh”, “original” and “unpredictable” her music combines traditional English folk singing with modern instrumentation and technology.

Lisa will be joined by Ducie returning by popular demand after dazzling last year’s crowd with their virtuoso musical skills ranging from Celtic folk to Latin beats.

A four-piece, comprising double bass, guitar, percussion and fiddle, Ducie cross musical genres. Julie Sheppard, the festival’s publicist said: “Lisa Knapp is so going places she’s already arrived in Lyme Regis.

“We’re lucky to get a chance to see her this close and personal. She’s a one-off. Ducie was my favourite act from last year. They’re from Manchester and bring some northern swagger to the po-faced world of folk.”
