SOME real ‘shake your behind’ music is coming to the Bridport Electric Palace on Saturday.

Mad Dog Mcrea blends a unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, and bluegrass.

From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies, Mad Dog never fail to capture their audiences with their infectious songs.

The band have recently returned from their second major UK tour, spreading the Mad Dog word across the country from The Isle of Sky to Land’s End. Their recent acclaimed album, The Whirling Dervish, which has been championed by Mike Harding on Radio 2, has become an underground classic, winning the best album of the year 2012 at The South West Music Awards.

Supporting the group is Sound of The Sirens, a female folk/rock duo who won best acoustic act in last year’s South West Folk Awards. This foot-stomping, heart-rending, crowd-engaging female folk/rock duo’s main strengths are in their passion, conviction and chemistry.

Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood have performed together for seven years and know how to rock a stage.

Individually their voices tell their own tale, and, when blended together in harmony, your spine will tingle.

2014 brought them some fantastic support slots, and they played many well-established festivals such as Boardmasters, Looe Festival and Leopallooza, to name but a few. Their dedication and consistency has earned them a well-deserved, strong and loyal fan base.

n Mad Dog Mcrea play the Electric Palace on Saturday, November 1 at 7.30pm.

Tickets can be bought from Bridport TIC in advance.
