VOCALIST Natasha Holman of Weymouth has got through to the heats phase of the Star Sensations singing competition.
She is among the entrants still in the running to win the Dorset Echo backed-competition, which aims to find the best singer in Dorset and on the South Coast.
Natasha, who performs every week at the Russell Hotel in Weymouth, has already made it through the first stage of auditions in the town.
The 16-year-old from Leamington Road, said: “I went for the audition a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t think it had gone so well. I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous.
“My legs were shaking and I honestly thought that I hadn’t got through.
“Then my mum got an email from the organisers giving details about the heat I’m entering on April 20 and saying ‘congratulations’.
“She phoned me at college to tell me I’d got through and I was really surprised.
“I thought she was joking at first.”
Natasha, a music student at Weymouth College, sang Hallelujah at her audition, which took place at Weymouth’s Centenary Club in Jubilee Close.
She said she was unsure what she would sing at the Weymouth heats stage of the competition, which is taking place in two parts on Monday, April 13 and Monday April 20.
Judges have been auditioning singers for over a month in Weymouth, Bournemouth and Southampton and have been selecting the best entrants to go through to heats stages.
Chris Daines of CFK Promotions, the firm behind the competition, said a total of 24 people from Weymouth would compete in the two heats next month.
He added: “Overall, the standard of singing in Weymouth was very high.”
Heats are taking place at the Centenary Club on Monday, April 13 and Monday, April 20 from 7.30pm to around 11pm.

Winners from two heats in each of the three locations will then go forward for the competition finale, which will take place in Bournemouth on May 10.
The judges at the final will include 2007 X-Factor finalist Niki Evans, Newsquest Dorset’s editor-in-chief Neal Butterworth and singer and CFK employee Helena Mace.
The winner of the competition will receive £1,000 prize money and a day in a recording studio as well as being named Star Sensation 2009.
