Weymouth wishes you a Happy New Year

Hybrid celebrate their third birthday tonight at The Queens in Weymouth Hybrid celebrate their third birthday tonight at The Queens in Weymouth

THE other day my wife found me rummaging through her wardrobe.

“What ARE you doing?” she asked.

“Narnia business,” I replied.

I was clearly looking for an outfit for New Year’s Eve which once again is upon us.

It’s a fantastic celebration, particularly in Weymouth, where it seems the entire town is out in fancy dress to see in the new year.

And this time it’ll be no different with some great live music to welcome in 2012.

The big five venues on the seafront – Lazy Lizard, Dusk, Dorothy, Aura and The Nook – have once again joined forces to present The Front.

Tickets are £13.50 and for that you get access to all of the venues which are hosting top bands including Whisky Rebellion, Hybrid, Cheap Shots, The Casinos and Slipped Disc, seven DJS and a whole lot more.

Tickets are available from any of the venues, so hurry up.

Meanwhile, the Rendezvous in Weymouth is also hosting its New Year’s Eve party with music from Danny and the Goosemen, Shooter and The Stereoironics. Tickets for this bash are £8. There will a be a military theme for fancy dress as there will be collections for the Help the Heroes charity throught the night.

I mentioned Hybrid earlier – one of the region’s most in-demand bands – and they will be clebrating their third birthday tonight at The Queens in King Street, Weymouth.

They’ve come a long way since making their debut in 2008 at that venue with just 14 songs to their set.

As you can see from the picture on today’s page, the band of Ash Jarman (vocals), Clive Ashmore (guitar), Steve Putt (bass) and Dave Cullen (drums) have had party hats especially made for their gigs tonight and at The Front on New Year’s Eve.

FInally, thanks to everyone who has sent in their gigs to me this year. Your support is really appreciated.

I leave you with my New Year’s resolution for 2012: Never go upstairs empty-handed.
