From I Wanna Hold Your Hand to Hey Jude and beyond, this is an extraordinary re-creation of seven years in which four young lads from Liverpool went from being teen-dream mop-tops to tripped-out psychedelic adventurers.
The Bootlegs manage to nail the long and winding road that took The Beatles from The Cavern Club to the roof of the Apple building with extraordinary accuracy. It’s not just the music either, it’s everything - the clothes, the mannerisms, the wacky sense of humour. This is a tribute band that plugs directly into a big slice of social history.
Astonishingly The Bootlegs, featuring Neil Harrison as John, David Catlin-Birch as Paul, Andre Barreau as George and Hugo Degenhardt as Ringo, have been around now for 30 years “We’ve been Beatles now for longer than we’ve been us,” said Harrison.
Thousands of gigs have clearly paid dividends. This is a seriously slick show which tells The Beatles story in music and back-projected images. In a little over two hours they deliver everything from the early hits to headier material like I Am The Walrus and Day In The Life. It’s quality stuff and, needless to say, a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
