A FRIDAY night spent in 60 Million Postcards – home to amazing burgers, strawberry beer and some of the UK’s hottest bands.
London-based Erland & the Carnival warm up the crowd before indie rock quartet Wild Beasts.
The intimate venue warmly welcomed both bands with Erland et al drawing an impressive audience right from the start. Lead singer Erland Cooper has an electric stage presence; his strong vocals along with the accompanying thumping drum beats made the folk rockers an instant hit and no doubt gained even more fans.
Wild Beasts followed with a superb set much to the joy of their broad fan base and entertained them with tracks from their hit albums Limbo, Panto and Two Dancers. Among their set list were the brilliant Vigil for a Fuddy Duddy and This is Our Lot, both of them hugely popular and met with much applause and cheering.
From the start of their set people were up on their chairs for the best view and didn’t stand down until the very end. Like Erland Cooper before him, lead singer Hayden Thorpe held the crowd in the palm of his hand with his stage presence and hauntingly beautiful voice which was both memorable and passionate.
Both of these bands were excellent and pulled the crowd into their brilliant creations from the first note until the last.
