COME with me on a journey through time... back to an era where men were men but dressed like women, where spray-on Spandex strides are the regulation uniform, where hair is back-combed and sprayed to a perfect bird’s nest, where metal is the only currency of any value and the music is ROCK, with a capital ARRRRGH...

Yes, I think you know what I’m getting at.

If your idea of a good time is banging your head off to the classic sounds of Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard, then Finns in Weymouth tomorrow night is the place for you.

Big Gunz are staging their tribute to the glam/hair era of the 80s and 90s with Chrissie DeRoxx on lead howling, Dirty Jakk Danger and DD ‘Bitchin’ Riff’ Baretta on twin guitar attack, Billy ‘Shyboy’ Sherborne holding down the bottom end and Stormin’ Stevie Storm on drums.

The band are encouraging the audience to get in that metal mood with prizes for best rock chick and best rock dude.

Who knows what the first prize will be? Maybe a ride home with the band in the van?

Meanwhile, on a more serious note, the Park in Weymouth is staging an all-day fundraiser tomorrow for Help the Heroes.

This is the third year running the pub in Grange Road has staged this worthy event and so far they’ve raised around £3,000 for this inspirational charity.

Band and artists lined up include the Lo Numbers, Slipped Disc, Surfin’ Birds, Tom Caulfield and Komakino. It kicks off at noon and runs all day.
