Ricky Whittle and Gillian Anderson’s drama American Gods is coming to the UK next year.
Neil Gaiman’s tale of mythological gods – which also stars Ian McShane, Emily Browning and Kristin Chenoweth – will be shown exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
The drama is based on Gaiman’s award-winning book and follows a power struggle between the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world and an upstart pantheon of gods whose behaviour reflects society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.
Ricky stars as protagonist ex-con Shadow Moon, Ian plays Mr Wednesday, who enlists Shadow Moon as part of his cross-country mission and Emily is Shadow’s wife, Laura Moon. The X-Files’ Gillian plays Media, the mouthpiece for the New Gods, and Kristin will be Easter.
Brad Beale, Vice President of Worldwide Television Acquisition for Amazon, said: “American Gods is one of the most ambitious new television series coming out in 2017.”
