David Walliams has revealed that fans of his books can look forward to seeing two more of them on screen in coming Christmases.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge has already had his kids’ books Mr Stink, Gangsta Granny and The Boy In The Dress adapted for TV by the BBC, and has said that the tradition will continue over the next couple of years.
He told The Sun On Sunday: “We are doing Billionaire Boy this Christmas for the BBC and then, next Christmas, Awful Auntie.
“It is very exciting. It’s great seeing them on screen because you feel like a magician – something in your head becomes this real, physical thing. We’ve had some incredible people cast, like Miranda Hart and Robbie Williams (who both starred in Gangsta Granny).
“It’s great because the more you do of these films, if they turn out well, the more people are encouraged to get involved.”
He added: “I don’t know who’s going to be in Billionaire Boy yet but there are a few good parts. And I’m sure I will pop up somewhere.”
Meanwhile, David has been keeping up his writing – but unfortunately you’re unlikely to see his latest story unless you are part of Simon Cowell’s inner circle.
The comedian explained that he had penned a special tale for his BGT colleague’s son’s first birthday: “I wrote a special book about baby Eric for Simon and I got Tony Ross to illustrate it.
“I made 500 copies and gave them to Simon, so he could give them to his friends as a money-can’t-buy present.
“He was pleased but he started judging it, obviously. ‘I think the pictures could have been bigger, there could have been more pictures of me’.”
