Move over Kim Kardashian. It seems Caitlyn Jenner is the one breaking the internet right now, with 1.9 million followers (and counting).

The 65-year-old sent her first tweet yesterday after revealing her new name and look on the cover of the July issue of Vanity Fair.

Within the next four hours, the former Olympic athlete, previously known as Bruce, reached one million followers, beating previous Guinness record-holder, aka, US President Barack Obama (apparently it took @POTUS just under than five hours to get one million people to follow him earlier this month).

Since the cover was revealed, more than 1.5 million tweets have been sent about Caitlyn, including friends, family and other celebrities.

As well as unveiling the cover shot by celeb photographer Annie Leibovitz, Vanity Fair also shared a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot, which sees Caitlyn talking about her transformation.

“I was probably at the Games because I was running away from a lot of things,” said the track-and-field Olympic gold medallist. “I am very very proud of the accomplishment I made, I don’t want to diminish that accomplishment.

“The last few days of doing this shoot was about my life and who I am as a person. it’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium, it’s not about going down the street and everybody says ‘atta boy Bruce’ and giving you a pat on the back.

“This is about your life. Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie every day, he had a secret, from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets. As soon as this Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.”

Last night, a She Not He Twitter bot emerged to “politely correct Twitter users who misgender Caitlyn Jenner in their tweets” and has already sent out more than 900 automated tweets.
