Cheap Balearic Island holidays

Should We Stay or Should We Go?

The flying ban over UK airspace has finally been lifted. Has this ban been pointless or was the ban put in place for a really good reason?

British Airways boss was infuriated with the ban as many of their flights were grounded and caused the company to lose a lot of money, he said, 'I don't believe it was necessary to impose a blanket ban on all UK airspace last Thursday.'

It is believed that the CAA and all other regulating bodies put this into place for a very good reason. The dust or ash from the volcano may have caused engines from jet aeroplanes to fail which could have caused devastating and possibly even fatal results.

As many people have been stranded all over the world there has been a high demand for other forms of transport such as cars, coaches, trains and ferries, all of which have been fully booked or companies are asking ridiculous prices for them.

Cheap Balearic Island holidays may not be so low priced now for the passengers who found them as many of them will have to find alternative arrangements to travel home and from the islands off the coast of Spain can be harder than you may think.

Stuck passengers in countries abroad that have booked holidays and business independently, i.e. flights and accommodation all booked separately, have been left to there own devices to try and return home, however, passengers booked with package tour operators have been looked after very well.

A couple who spent the Easter school holidays in the Dominican Republic booking through the major UK tour operator, Thomson, have understandably had to change hotel, all the same they have been provided with an all inclusive package in the new hotel mirroring the holiday they had booked and taken.

These passengers are incredibly happy with the service that Thomson have given them and have said 'There are certainly worse places to be stranded, however if we had booked everything separately, who knows where we would be now.'

The new thought on the holiday market now is if there is going to be a boom in holiday prices with so many airlines losing money or will it turn the other way and we will see many cheap Balearic Island holidays and cheap Spanish holidays on the go to encourage passengers to travel again?

This ban will have a knock on effect either way and will cause disruption for many months to come.
