Pick a City From The Norm.

Many of us portray holidays to Cuba as being one of the many popular resorts such as Guradalavaca, Varadero and the Cayo Islands in the Keys of Cuba. Cuba is home to a number of islands around its coast in fact some fifteen hundred. It is quite a large island in the Caribbean. Many people like these resorts as they are admired all inclusive resorts with many stunning beaches.

The island of Cuba has a sub tropical climate with an average temperature of twenty five degrees celcius all year round and rainfall more frequent in the summer months when it is warmer. Many coastal resorts around the island are met with a wind sweeping across making it slightly cooler than inland cities and towns.

When you take your holidays to Cuba you need to be aware that the currency is quite an important factor. They have a closed currency which means you can't take any in or any out of the country. Any traveller's cheques or currency drawn from an American bank such as the US Dollar or AMEX will not be accepted any where in Cuba. The best option would be to take sterling only, as many cards won't be accepted either, as many have the Visa symbol on them and this is once again American and won't be accepted.

Do you want the typical Caribbean resort to be your home for your holiday duration or would you like to try something that little bit different, or maybe combine a beach holiday with a city break? Either way there is something for everyone in Cuba, and possibly more than you may think.

Visits are available throughout the country to many cities with the main city and largest attraction on the island being Havana. It is the largest city in Cuba and is also the capital of Cuba. Located in the provincial area of Ciudaddela la Habana, Havana offers lots of colonial buildings and many traditional cigar outlets and factories which is what every holiday maker and tourist goes to see. It also offers many narrow cobbled streets with overhanging balconies from the houses here which is a magnificent attraction of the city and is a popular city to combine with a beach stay.

Santiago is located in the Santiago de Cuba province on the south of the island. The Castle of San Pedro Del Morrow guards this area and is certainly more than just a beach resort or destination. This is a fabulous city with many festivals being held here throughout the year and is also home to many of Cuba's oldest museums and palaces.

A further choice to consider is the city of Baracoa which is located in the Guantanamo province on the east of the island. Declared a national heritage site, there are many natural attractions in the area such as the Toa River which is graced by many beautiful waterfalls and the city also has a magnificent landscape and surrounding of the Sierra Del Purial mountain range. Baracoa, once Cuba's capital city, has special historical and natural charm as it is the oldest Spanish settlement on the island of Cuba.

Tourism here is very low but should you get the chance it is a definite must see.

Whether you want a beach holiday or city break or maybe even a twin centre combining the two holidays into one, holidays to Cuba will definitely be able to deliver this for you. Hopefully one of the cities listed above has stimulated a dream twin centre trip to Cuba and could well be possible to package together as long as you look in the correct places.
