THERE have been a spate of charity rock fundraisers recently, so all eyes were on the eagerly awaited “Hospices Rock” event at Mr Kyps. The evening was compered by Dave Chinery, who did a fantastic job of keeping the audience entertained throughout the night, also encouraging them to spend their money in aid of Lewis-Manning and Forest Holme Hospices.

Hard rock outfit Sansara were first up on stage, featuring new bassist Dee Aldwell. Their set was solid, featuring favourites such as ‘Let It Burn’ and they went over well to the sizeable crowd. Second band, indie rockers Empire Affair gave an energetic performance and had the crowd moving closer to the stage, creating a real buzz.

Third band Saints of Sin absolutely nailed it with their big hair and distinctive sound, featuring covers of ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ and ‘Livin’ on A Prayer’, the latter seeing most of the other band members joining them on stage.

The audience were left wondering how anyone could top that performance, but a strong set from local favourites Walk The Night, including original tracks ‘Getaway’ and ‘Parade’, ensured the evening ended in style. Overall it was a fantastic, fun night for a great cause.
