PAOLO Nutini performed a stripped back, relaxed set during his show in Bournemouth.

The crooner, who has released tracks including Pencil Full of Lead and New Shoes, sang his heart out at the O2 Academy Bournemouth.

On a journey around the country to promote his latest album, Caustic Love, which is released on April 14, the night was full of sweet, soft melodies, with both new and old songs brought together and presented to the crowd.

Coming Up Easy, Last Request and 10/10 were just a few of the hits on offer, sung in the traditional, husky tones of Mr Nutini, but on a slower, more acoustic tone.

He brought with him a full band, and it was this that added something extra, as opposed to the star waiting for the next pre-recorded track to play.

In my personal opinion, I felt that something was missing from the evening, as I know Paolo Nutini for up-beat, bouncy, feel-good songs, and only some of these were presented, with a new twist, in a calmer, more soulful tone.

But I am sure that this is just setting the stage for the latest side of Mr Nutini, and for the crowd, who wooped and cheered throughout, as he creates more grown-up tunes to present to listeners, albeit with teenage bed head-like hair.
