IF you’re looking for value-for-money, then look no further than a Wave 105 FM concert.

Not only was there an array of top pop talent on display at the BIC on Saturday night, but the sell-out crowd was also treated to nearly five hours of entertainment.

Headline act Paloma Faith deserved her star billing. A fashion designer’s dream, the chart star had a great rapport with the audience.

Nearly losing her hat at one stage when she was jumping up and down, she also danced on a piano.

There were terrific versions of Can’t Rely On You and Only Love Can Hurt Like This and she got the enthusiastic crowd up on their feet for the grand finale.

Pixie Lott gave a powerful performance. For the most part she was on her own on stage with a backing track. But she showed real style and her fine vocal range when accompanied on acoustic guitar to sing Wake Me Up and Cry Me Out.

Level 42 stormed through their set. Mark King with his illuminated, sparkling bass guitar was in fine form. And their excellent back catalogue of hits was made for such an occasion.

David Gray proved you don’t have to have a backing band to make an impact. Armed with an acoustic guitar and a superb voice, he had the crowd singing along to such hits as Babylon and Sail Away.

Peter Andre got the biggest cheer of the night for his stylish performance. The showman donned a suit for his slick, swing set and ended with crowd-pleaser Mysterious Girl.

The Pierces showed they have a fine future ahead of them. Great songs and excellent vocals got the thumbs up from the audience.

Ex- Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts and emerging talent from X Factor Ella Henderson also delighted the crowd.

There were a few technical hitches on the night, but the DJs and the stars overcame them with humour and professionalism.

I, for one, can’t wait for the next Wave 105 FM concert.
