THEY'RE the band every festival organiser's been trying to book for years.

And the Red Hot Chili Peppers didn't disappoint when they stepped onto the main stage at the Isle of Wight.

The American rockers may have been around for more than 30 years but far from fading, the decades have simply made them stronger than ever.

Bouncing across the stage in front of tens of thousands of fans, they belted out hits, with Californication attracting the biggest roar from the crowd.

The powerful Give It Away was a highlight and By The Way had everyone singing along in unison.

Fans had travelled from across the country for the band's first UK festival performance since 2007 and they got their money's worth during the 90-minute set..

The Chilis topped the bill on the second day of the festival, during which the sell-out crowd enjoyed an eclectic mix of music.

Just an hour earlier crowd members old enough to remember the 80s were in their element during an hour-long set from The Specials.

Lead singer Terry Hall led a trip down memory lane with Ghost Town, Rudi and Too Much Too Young.

The Pretty Reckless, Nina Nesbitt and the 1975 also appeared on the main stage and there was a great line-up in the Big Top spoiled only by N-Dubz brat Dappy who stormed off stage after getting the reception he deserved.

Bring on Day 3 - it's a marathon not a sprint.
