US rockers Kings of Leon brought the Isle of Wight Festival to a spectacular close last night with a loud and proud rendition of Sex On Fire.

The whole island must have been shaking as an estimated 80,000 people helped bring down the curtain on a fantastic weekend of entertainment.

The brilliant sound produced by the Kings of Leon is never in doubt but the boys have come in for a bit of criticism in the past for their lack of stage presence and interaction with the crowd.

Perhaps there's something in the water on the Isle of Wight because they broke with that tradtion yesterday, even wishing us all a Happy Father's Day. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure they cracked a smile once or twice too.

And all the hits were there with newer tracks from Mechanical Bull mixed in with old favourites like Use Someboy.

Day three of the festival also saw the surprise star of the event, Passenger, win the hearts of all who were there to listen.

And an incredible and lively set from Fall Out Boy set the stage for a great summer's evening.

An unexpected appearance from the Red Arrows did nothing to dampen the atmosphere either.

The whole event has been a musical treat - there are few places you can go to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Calvin Harris, Biffy Cyro, The Specials and Kings of Leon in the space of just over 48 hours.

A dazzling fireworks display at the end of the night accompanied by the annual Beatles singalong ensured everyone went home happy.

I'm looking forward to next year already.
