Book: The Eye of Soloman by Peter Copp

WEYMOUTH author Miro Ringbolt’s debut novel, The Eye of Soloman is published by Weatherdeck Books.

The main character is Petty Officer Patrick Redmond.

Docked in Mombasa he seeks out to see old friends before taking a diving trip off the coast.

While out they discover a jewel, and things start to go from bad to worse for him.

One of his friends dies in an accident, yet Patrick finds himself court marshalled and being accused of his friend’s murder.

Patrick decides to settle in Weymouth after being stripped of his passport because deportation for trial appears imminent, enjoying a somewhat Bohemian lifestyle.

We should not be reading too much into this, according to Ringbolt, instead it is as simple as writing what he knows about.

In fact, he says he did very little research for the book, only for very specific details about rebel organisations, and much of what he did do was reminding himself about certain places.

Parts of Kenya are included in that, which after enjoying sex and drunken days, is where Patrick heads, still without his passport, to save another friend, also accused of murder. And that is where the real adventures begin.
