AUSTRALIAN singer songwriter Josh Pyke has pitched up from Down Under with his acoustic guitar.
He’s one of the Antipodes’ most acclaimed artists and it’s easy to see why.
The title track is a rousing, sing-along number, while Leeward Side is a fantastic harmonica-led, happy clappy number about sticking with your lot.
Some of the album is a little too folky sounding for me with the Mumford and Sons-like Haunt You Love never really getting going. I did enjoy the stripped-down, delicate All The Very Best of Us duet though.
Josh Pyke shows he can turn his hand to up-tempo and sincere balladry and although some songs are forgettable, this album has plenty of gems.
