Endearing, funny, feisty and tough-talking.

Jillian Michaels showed Bournemouth what she's really made of on Tuesday night.

Perhaps best known by many for her 'trainer from hell' persona on the Biggest Loser US, the pocket rocket of fitness held the packed out audience at Bournemouth's Pavilion theatre in the palm of her hand.

A lively entrance of high fives and expletives opened Jillian's Maximise Your Life show, where the health and fitness dynamo sought to explain how to get the most out your workouts and healthy diet by training your mind as well.

Known by many as 'The Shred Woman' - a title born from her 30 Day Shred fitness DVDs - this tour seeks to explain how to motivate yourself to enhance your life through the correct nutrition, exercise and most importantly positive mindset.

Split into three themes - science, sweat and self - the lifestyle guru ably dealt with the topic of fad diets and exercise excuses with a sense of humour and straight talking. And her 'eat less and move more' mantra was well-received by a mainly female audience keen to engage with the fitness pro.

Peppered with anecdotes from her time on the Biggest Loser as well as her own experiences growing up and as a mother, Jillian was less brittle than her television persona and displayed genuine warmth.

Her dose of cynicism and life enhancing advice served up a well-needed sense of empowerment just when those New Year resolutions were beginning to wane.
