TAKE one comedian from the TV, put them on a little stage in Wimborne and give them a sell-out audience and a broken microphone stand.

The result is one night of laughs as comedian, Andy Parsons, made us giggle at the concept of a wild night for him involving moving the pillow to the other end in bed.

Famed for Mock the Week, Spitting Image and Live at the Apollo, the comedy genius is quick-witted, poking fun at himself after noticing a set of empty seats which were never filled by audience goers towards the front of the theatre.

He also had a large amount of content focused on the upcoming general election, which was topical, clever and exactly at the right level for the mature crowd who turned out to see Andy at his comical best.

There was a dip in the show at one point, when he contemplated what a failure the world and everything in it is, which in typical British fashion, saw people awkwardly shift around in their seats.

But he finished the first act on a high and by the end of the show, people were cheering and appeared only too pleased that he had chosen to visit a smaller, 500-seated venue in Dorset.

Despite the odd swearword, Mr Parsons is largely inoffensive with jokes being made about motorway service stations, toilet humour and not agreeing with your partner when they criticise their own family.

It takes a pretty special person to dedicate their career to making other people laugh and is no mean feat to come out onto a stage to face an audience, offer them your best lines and hope they chuckle. But Andy has been on the comedy circuit for a while and is evidently an absolute master of his craft.
