WHEN McFly and Busted joined forces to create a supergroup, there were mixed feelings. But here's why it was the best decision and makes for an amazing gig in Bournemouth.

Because there has never been a stage set like this one

It’s basically a giant Sega MegaDrive, with working joysticks and buttons. Tom plays Sonic on it on his days off, apparently, and they claim it broke a World Record for the largest working games console.

Tom jumped and scissor-kicked in shiny shoes

In beautiful, sparkly silver Converse which reflected the light. It looked like so much fun that the rest of the group joined in. Lots.

Bournemouth Echo:

The boys are children at heart and aren't afraid to show it

Dougie had a light-up guitar, James rode around the staging on a little BMX, Harry sang out of tune on purpose to make people laugh and all of them jumped like they had had too many sweets and ice creams. It certainly lived up to the name of being McBusted's Most Excellent Adventure.

A host of your (secret) favourite songs from the start of the Millennium and onwards

What I Go To School For, Year 3000, Star Girl and Shine a Light all get the crowd singing, swaying, jumping and moshing.

The only person who wasn't having fun is the one who wouldn't play along with the Kiss Cam

He had his arms crossed and shook his head towards the boys. He was too clearly too cool for a big night of fun, but fortunately it was all in good jest. Lots of other loved-up couples did play along however, as the band played All About You, and we all cooed in delight.

Some lucky people won the chance to get into the OMFG section

They got the closest view of each member of the band, had room to dance about while everybody else had standing room only and got to catch the plectrums, Harry's drumsticks and the bride's bouquet. Speaking of which...

What other band do you know who would don dresses and silly costumes for their audience's entertainment?

Tom, Danny, Harry, Dougie, Matt and James dressed up as the bridal party for Crashed the Wedding. They swirled in their dresses, threw flower petals and basically we felt like we'd all been sent an invite to join the party.

You didn't stop singing all night

Tune after incredible tune, the band know how to keep everyone singing and dancing, with Air Hostess, That Weirdo with Five Colours in her Hair and Air Guitar are kinda catchy. We hate to admit it but their songs stay in your head long after the show has ended.

Charlie Simpson who?

Bournemouth Echo:

Those eyebrows on the ex-member of Busted did, at one stage in our lives, make us go weak at the knees. But now there's Harry playing the drums topless to reveal a very defined six-pack and Danny running his fingers through his hair. There's Tom writing and singing the most romantic songs with life experience on his side. Plus, collectively it's fair to say they have all aged *pretty well* over the past decade or so.

It's jam-packed with non-stop-super-loud-throw-your-hands-in-the-air-joyousness

From the opening chords of Air Guitar to the sing-along-spectacular that is Year 3000, no-one in the room stopped grinning once. You can still get tickets for Wednesday, you know...
