IT’S six years since Michael McIntyre last performed in Bournemouth – and he certainly made the crowd wait for his return to the BIC stage.

There were a couple of rather awkward minutes listening to his entrance music before he bumbled on, claiming rather apologetically that he’d been ‘in the loo’ when the show began.

But all was quickly forgiven as he began regaling the audience with his hilarious anecdotes of everyday life which have happened to us all, but are somehow so much funnier in McIntyre world.

Internet shopping, going on holiday and even simply walking along were the subjects of much hilarity throughout the Happy & Glorious stand-up show.

Many of the jokes were obviously pre-planned but McIntyre, who now lives in nearby Wiltshire, also threw in plenty of off the cuff remarks about life in Bournemouth and this weekend’s Air Festival – promising he would pop down with the family to take a look.

Die-hard fans will have heard one or two of the jokes before, but it didn’t stop the entire audience smirking, chuckling and roaring with laughter at his clever, observational humour throughout.

It was the first of a four-night run on the very first leg of McIntyre’s tour and you’d be mad not to get a ticket.
