After spending the summer roaming the country playing at Glastonbury, Bestival and anywhere else that would have them the Sleaford Mods launched an aural assault on The Old Fire Station tonight.

Describing the delivery of the material as an assault may seem over the top but if you were there you will know exactly what I mean.

Jason Williamson is one of the most fascinating performers around at the moment and is perfectly balanced by Andrew Fearn who hangs back and provides the beat that drives the show forward.

The stage was almost bare, there were no instruments to be seen, just two blokes and a laptop, yet they had the crowd hanging on every word as it was spat into the microphone. Don't be fooled though this was not just a meaningless rant, Jason is one of the best lyricists around at the moment and deserves a proper listen.

The crowd was a real mixture of people which again demonstrates the growing appeal of a band that has something to say as opposed to so much on offer out there today that goes for looks over content every time.

At a couple of minutes under the hour it was short but the intensity never let up and no one left the Fire Station feeling as though they hadn’t got exactly what they came for.
