FIRST things first I should let you know that this is the fourth time I have seen a Vampires Rock show and I have loved it every time so this is not going to be anything but a good review.

Steve Steinman’s Baron Rockula swooped on Bournemouth last night bringing with him his trusted band of un-dead followers and his ever-faithful(ish) handyman Bosley.

He also brings with him a seemingly never-ending supply of tongue-in-cheek and sometimes groan inducing verbal links announcing the intro to the next song.

Setting up house in an abandoned funfair his faithful crew go in search of a woman of virtue to finally bring their master back to his former glory.

The story is then your standard bad guy vampire seducing the girl with good guy Van Hale-and-sing doing his best to interrupt proceedings.

What makes this show so enjoyable is what happens as we make our way toward the inevitable conclusion.

The acting cast are full of fun and play their parts and deliver their lines just as they should, the touring band of two guitarists, bass, drums and keyboards are spot on the money and deliver the tunes as the original groups intended them to be.

Although tucked away slightly for the majority of the show the band is the backbone that keeps the show rocking along and the audience loving every minute.

With tunes from Alice Cooper, Pat Benatar, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Guns and Roses and just about every other stadium filling rock group there is mean there is something for everyone no matter the age.

Add into the mix excellent dancers who also supply the aerial silks display and literally add some extra fire to the evening and you have a great blend of talent, fun, music and a show not to be missed.

The lighting and sound are excellent with smoke machines and just enough pyro to keep me happy.

The crowd are a good mix of first timers and seasoned hands, some of who have dressed up for the occasion, which all adds to the atmosphere of the show.

The interaction between the Baron and Bosley has remained fresh and fun which is no mean feat considering how long they have been at it.

But most of all this show is about great tunes and a group of people supplying an evening of pure entertainment.

The Baron may have been vanquished once more (or moved on to Skegness) but with a bit of luck he will return, and if he does don’t miss this great show.

I guarantee you will be entertained.
