For someone brought up in the late sixties and seventies where the main source of indoor entertainment consisted of listening to the radio tonight bought back some great memories.

These bands were huge and played everyday resulting in millions of record sales and fans around the world.

First up is the Tavares who rode the disco wave of the mid 70s.

Originally five brothers, they are still going strong as an original foursome but soon to be back up to full strength.

Starting with It Only Takes A Minute Girl (given a new lease of life by Take That) the whole set was delivered with a freshness that had the crowd dancing in the aisles while the band showed that the years have been good to their voices.

Rock The Boat, Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel and Don't Take Away The Music were all given an airing and provided the perfect start to the night.

A quick turn around and it was the turn of The Temptations.

Having had somewhere in the region of 25 members over the past 45 years they maybe down to one original singer in Otis Williams but again the songs sounded great and what a catalogue of songs it is.

My Girl, Just My Imagination and Papa Was A Rollin Stone have helped the Temptations win Grammy awards, sell tens of millions of records and put on a great show for the crowd.

Finally it was the turn of the Four Tops.

This is a band that helped define the Motown sound that swept the world and has entertained people around the world for decades.

They have had so many hits that they had to put some of them into a medley so that they could squeeze them all into the hour that they were on stage.

I could list them all but there is nowhere near enough space here.

Suffice to say in an evening of million selling groups they were deservedly the headline act.

Taking time to dedicate the show to past members of the band as well as members of the audience, they connected with the sell out crowd and once again had them on their feet enjoying every second of the set.

What a great way to spend a Saturday night!
