THE flares were out in force at Lighthouse, Poole last night, for the group hailed as the ‘world’s number one’ touring ABBA tribute production.

It is just over 40 years since won Eurovision and ABBA Mania gives fans the chance to relive all their favourite hits.

The foursome gave a realistic impersonation of Agnetha, Anni- Frid, Bjorn and Benny – complete with Swedish accents – throughout the show.

There were costume changes aplenty, with lots of white lycra, sparkly belts and metallic platform boots, and the night was packed full of back-to-back hits.

ABBA are largely remembered for their disco classics, including Waterloo, Mamma Mia, SOS, Voulez-Vous and Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! – all huge crowd pleasers.

But they also wrote some beautiful love songs, such as Chiquitita, Fernando and The Winner Takes It All, taking the audience from partying in the aisles to being so still as to hear a pin drop.

A young choir from iDance Performing Arts complemented the powerful voices of ‘Agnetha’ and Anni-Frid’ on two of the numbers, while ‘Benny’ had his moment to shine with his raunchy rendition of Does Your Mother Know.

But it was the Dancing Queen finale, swiftly followed by an encore of Thank You For The Music which really made the night, with fans young and old up on their feet.

ABBA Mania has performed more than 3,000 live concerts in more than 30 countries to more than 3,000,000 people and it’s easy to see why they are so successful – quite simply the most fun I’ve had for ages!
