LES MUSICALS
Two men, a pianist and a drummer, that is all that was needed to attract a large and enthusiastic audience who took to their feet to cheer during a concert that was full of pleasurable musical moments as part of a national touring production.
Vocalists Jonathan Ansell and Rhydian Roberts highlighted songs from the shows ranging from Ole Man River to I Believe in Miracles as they journeyed through Blood Brothers, Miss Saigon, South Pacific and many more in a non-stop performance of fine resonance and superb sound.
Laser lights brought the stage to life as the men performed duets and solos, their voices harmonising nicely, Jonathan’s tenor occasionally rising to falsetto and Rhydian’s baritone delving the depths of bass, both men proving to be thoroughly professional and first rate singers of quality.
Can they sing 50 songs in three minutes? Yes they can, well sort of, much to the delight of the audience who cheered, sang along and gave the double act a well-deserved standing ovation.
Lightening the mood with a few boy capers, the boys showed off their talents with occasional comedy routines to an audience for whom the show turned out to be Some Enchanted Evening in which Love Changes Everything as they brought Music of the Night to Weymouth.
