Mel B is in talks to join the next series of The X Factor.

The Spice Girl impressed TV bosses when she did a stint as guest judge on the show last year.

Now The Sun and the Daily Mirror have reported that Mel is being lined up to join the judging panel of the UK X Factor despite already landing a role on another Simon Cowell show, America's Got Talent.

The Daily Mirror quoted a source as saying: "Mel did fantastically and proved a big draw on the ratings front (as a guest judge on the UK X Factor). She is just what the show needs to liven it up - fresh, bolshy and opinionated - and Simon is a big fan."

Bosses are so keen to get Scary Spice into the judge's seat that they are trying to move things around to fit in with her America's Got Talent schedule.

The Sun said that The X Factor audition process could start a month later than usual.

Simon is reported to have axed judge Tulisa Contostavlos over flagging ratings.

Although TV bosses are said to want to remove Louis Walsh, Simon is reported to want him to stay for this year's 10th anniversary series.

Nicole Scherzinger has apparently been guaranteed a place on the show, and ITV hopes to tempt Gary Barlow back despite the Take That star suggesting he may have had enough, according to the Mirror.
