How’s that for a fund-razor? Sir Elton John has turned barber for a day to help Comic Relief.
The singer shaved his friend Evgeny Lebedev’s beard off in aid of the charity after his annual post-Oscars party in Los Angeles.
He said: “It is the most amazing cause. I thought it would be great to shave the beard off my good friend Evgeny Lebedev. He’s had this beard for so long, it’s so boring and I’ve forgotten what he looks like underneath it.”
The whole thing was filmed for the charity by Ol Parker who wrote the screenplay for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
Lebedev said he knew the singer would he happy to help, saying: “In all the years that I’ve known him, Elton John’s commitment to charity has been second to none.”
The charity is asking people to help them raise funds by making their faces “funny for money” ahead of Red Nose Day on March 13.
Other famous faces backing the cause include presenter Dermot O’Leary, who is doing a 24-hour dance marathon to raise money.
