David Bowie has left fans a secret message on one of his albums.

The late singer’s Blackstar – released on January 8, two days before Bowie died aged 69 following a battle with cancer – features a black star on the cover, and nothing about it seems to be out of the ordinary.

However, fans have discovered that if the sleeve is left in the sun it starts to sparkle with a galaxy of stars.

When it is taken out of the light, the image returns to normal.

David’s son Duncan Jones was among those to tweet about the artwork, revealing he was as surprised as everyone else.

The record cover, the first not to feature the star’s image, was designed by Jonathan Barnbrook.

He previously told design magazine Dezeen: “A lot of people said it was a bullshit cover when it came out, that it took five minutes to design. But I think there is a misunderstanding about the simplicity.”
