Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon has shared her nerves at her current high-profile grooming storyline.

Lucy plays Bethany Platt, a schoolgirl who has been duped into a relationship with Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper), who is much older than her and has begun pimping her out to his friends.

Viewers have been sickened by the paedophile sex ring storyline and Lucy tweeted to share with her fans the pressure she felt at getting her scenes just right for the ITV soap.

Tim O’Mara, who was directing the scene, replied.

Next week’s episodes of Corrie will show Bethany’s situation take an even darker turn when Nathan manipulates her into making a commitment to him.

She begins to talk to Mary Taylor (Patti Clare), who is concerned about the teen looking upset, but Nathan soon arrives to pull her away and makes her feel guilty for almost betraying him by putting out a rumour that he was going to propose.

Nathan does later propose to Bethany and a worried Sarah Louise (Tina O’Brien) tells her daughter that despite not agreeing with the relationship, she will always be around to support her.

But Bethany’s happiness is short-lived when Nathan starts planning another party, this time with a new friend, Ian, who is interested in meeting Bethany – will she go ahead with her fiance’s creepy plan, or will she manage to confide in someone about the abuse?

These Coronation Street episodes will air on ITV from May 1.
