Today presenter Mishal Husain has revealed she suffers from work-related anxiety dreams – including hosting the Radio 4 show from her bed.

The programme’s hosts, Husain, John Humphrys, Sarah Montague, Nick Robinson and Justin Webb, appear in a video made by an artist now on display at the National Portrait Gallery.

The film marks the famous breakfast show’s 60th anniversary.

Husain tells artist Nigel Shafran that, like a lot of other people, she suffers from anxiety dreams but hers are a little more unusual.

“I quite often dream, about work. Things going wrong at work usually, rather than things going right,” she says.

“So, I quite recently had the dream about oversleeping, not making it into the programme at all and having to get through to the studio from home and present the programme from my bed, which is just a bizarre, bizarre thought.”

Meanwhile, co-host Webb discusses the pitfalls of his unusual work hours on the early-morning show.

“I get lists of things to do from my wife … Everyone thinks it’s wonderful you get every day off essentially,” he says.

“It is true that you can order your day as you like but of course if you’re married that also means that you’ll get a list of things to do from your spouse, and I get quite long lists sometimes and they include all sorts of things around the house that I’ve got to do.”

And Humphrys admits what his listeners already know – that patience is not one of his virtues, saying: “I’m possibly one of the least patient people in the world. I’ve never quite mastered the idea.”
