THE highly acclaimed Vienna Festival Ballet Company is bringing Swan Lake to the stage in Bridport on Saturday.

This production at the Electric Palace offers imaginative glamorous costumes and beautiful sets which project colour and vitality to enhance the workings of the dancers, choreographers and the composer.

The ballet includes all the essential ingredients to appeal to a wide audience base from youngsters wishing to see the art of ballet live on stage, to those wishing to enjoy an evening offering a good story combined with music and dance.

The story centres on Prince Siegfried. While out hunting, the prince meets with a flock of swans led by a Swan Queen who is under the evil spell of a magician, Baron Rothbart.

He falls in love with the Queen of the Swans and tries to free them all. However, the magician has a few tricks up his sleeve. Will everything turn out well for the Prince and the Queen of the Swans?

The Vienna Festival Ballet Company has been hailed as ‘an excellent company of talented young dancers whose energy and enthusiasm is breathtaking.’ The company was founded in 1980 by celebrated Austrian dancer Peter Mallek and tours for eight months of the year.

Tours abroad include Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Ireland and France.

Future tours are planned for Spain and the Far East.

The repertoire consists of full length traditional classics and new works commissioned by talented young choreographers.

Doors open at 4.30pm and the show starts at 5.30pm.
