TWO short plays are being performed at the Royal Manor Theatre on Portland tomorrow and Saturday.
They are being staged by the award-winning Playmakers and are co-directed by Graham Masters and Mark Sampson-Vincent.
The first play, An English Heaven, written by Claire Jones, tells of a group of wives in a small village on the English south coast whose husbands are away fighting on the western front in France during the First World War.
The play depicts village life during that period. Graham particularly wanted to present this play because of the upcoming 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
The second play Rings Around The World, penned by Keith Badham, centres on an autistic teenager and tells us of the many challenges he faces throughout life which ends in tragedy.
Again Graham was attracted to this play because he has actually worked with autistic children for many years and he wants to raise awareness around autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.
Both plays demonstrate how versatile these young actors have to be by playing multiple roles.
They are not suitable to be seen by very young children.
Doors open at 6.30pm and performances start at 7pm.
There will be an extra matinee perfor-mance on Saturday at 2.30pm.
Tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for seniors and children under 16 and can be bought at the door or bought online at rmtcportland. co.uk or by calling 0333 666 3366.
