THE Battle of Agincourt is the inspiration for a medieval month at Corfe Castle with daily living history displays from 10am to 6pm and a packed events programme.

The Medieval Village with Knight and Damsel Academy will be at the castle from July 28 to August 31 and will transport visitors back to St Crispin’s day 1415 – a date made famous by Shakespeare in Henry V. Visitors can meet one of Henry’s knights in his campaign tent and hear his tales of battle and daily life in the 14th century.

Other characters waiting to greet visitors include the siege engineer, the armourer and the medieval cook.

Interactive activities for budding knights and damsels include: The Schoole of Sword, medieval cookery, warfare, at the armoury, a knighting ceremony, and have-a-go archery – where visitors can try their hand with the longbow – the weapon that won the Battle of Agincourt.

Talks and demonstrations take place throughout the day and the Medieval Village living history display is open daily from 10am to 6pm.

The Medieval Village with a Knight and Damsel Academy is a free event but normal admission charges apply. Admission is free to National Trust members.
