For one week only fans of Roots Music, the general term for traditional styles, can listen to their favourites on our own local radio station Bridport FM.
This week Bridport has its own contribution to the on-air music mix when on September 21, the last day of broadcasting on 87.7 FM, Bridport FM DJ Geoff Atherton will be bringing listeners an hour of exotic musical flavours between 5pm and 6pm.
Genres will include country, blues, folk and rockabilly.
He said: “There is so much good music that is never played on the radio. I applaud people like Mumford and Sons and Jake Bugg, who have broken through. In this show I intend to go for great songs by real musicians for real people as a taster for roots music. I am also considering starting a regular roots music club if I can find the right venue.”
In addition, broadcasts on volunteering continue from 12.30pm to 12.40pm every day from Monday September 15 to Sunday September 21, covering a different topic each day. The show can be heard live on 87.7 FM, or accessed go via the Bridport Arts Centre website on bridport-arts.com.
You can follow the show on twitter on @bridportFM or via the Bridport FM facebook page.
