English singer-songwriter and composer Barb Jungr is all set to bring locals to their feet at The Electric Palace later this month when she performs song from her album Hard Rain.

The album is an eleven track collection of the songs of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, her 14th solo effort and the 38th in total during her music career.

Covering classics such as Cohen’s Land of Plenty and Who by Fire, and the album’s title track by Dylan, the work has been released on her own Kristalyn Record Label and is currently touring the UK.

With rave international reviews and two prestigious New York awards (2008 Nightlife Award for Outstanding Cabaret Vocalist and Best International Artist 2003 Backstage Award), Barb Jungr is renowned for her unique vocal style, interpretation of song and radical approach.

Born and brought up in the northern towns of Rochdale and Stockport, London-based Barb is a feature on both sides of the Atlantic, performing in Indianapolis, Toronto and New York in the spring of last year, and later on in Connecticut.

She has also toured Australia and performed in the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in the Gala performances and two premier concert appearances, returning to the Melbourne Recital Centre and Sydney’s premier supper clubs.

Elsewhere during the 90s she extensively toured the world with the British Council visiting Malawi, Cameroon, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Cote D’Ivoire and Sudan.

She was a patron of the first ever London Fesitval of Cabaret which took place in October and November last year, and she performed in a week-long season at Soho Theatre.

In the winter of 2013 Barb appeared with Mari Wilson in their Woman to Woman shows before she returned to New York to perform in a rave-reviewed sellout season at 59E59 Theatre.

Jungr appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Start The Week, A Good Read and Saturday Live and on BBC4 TV’s The Lives and Pain of the Jazz Divas.

Her earlier Dylan collection, Barb Jungr Sings Bob Dylan: Every Grain of Sand (Linn Records 2002), which the Wall Street Journal called ‘the most significant vocal album of the 21st century thus far’, is now regarded as a cult classic album.

Her second collection of Dylan's songs,The Man In The Long Black Coat – Barb Jungr Sings Bob Dylan, was released in May 2011 by Linn Records to excellent reviews.

She toured throughout the UK and the USA in autumn 2011, performing for the first time in LA and Austin with return appearances in San Francisco and a two-week run in New York. The show is on October 10 at The Electric Palace.
