BRIDPORT’S own master of American Roots Stompin’ Dave has teamed up with five-times winner of Blues In Britain UK Drummer of the year Sam Kelly for a feast of blues, boogie and banjo at Evershot Village Hall on Friday, December 5.

Described as ‘one of the world’s greatest performers’ by Maverick Magazine, Stompin' Dave is perhaps best known round these parts for his madcap hillbilly dancing and award-winning banjo picking.

But Dave has these last few years begun making waves on the UK’s blues scene.

This year he was nominated for a British Blues Award in the acoustic act category.

Back in 2000 Dave joined Bournemouth-based blues band The Producers, UK Blues Band of the Year award winners 1998-2001.

Alongside Dave’s adventures in bluegrass music, he has found time to release 10 blues albums and has made regular performances at various blues festivals and clubs.

This year Dave earned an unprecedented sixth consecutive invitation to the legendary Boogaloo Blues Festival on the Isle of Wight London-based Sam Kelly has been voted into Blues In Britain magazine Gallery of the Greats, as a five-times winner of the UK Drummer of the Year award.

Sam has recorded albums with Gary Moore, Ruby Turner, Rory McLeod and Stan Webb.

Over the years Sam has performed with such well-known artists as Dr. John, Ben E. King, Robert Plant, The Foundations, Chaka Khan, Billy Ocean, and Michelle Shocked among many others.

Sam recently performed with Paul Jones, Imelda May, Andy Fairweather Low and Chris Barber. Jules Bushell, formerly with the Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys, will be joining Sam and Dave on bass. This event is promoted by the popular Band On committee. There will be a licensed bar serving draught real ale, draught lager, scrumpy, a range of wines, spirits and soft drinks.
